Cool motor drive

Been meaning to post this for a couple months now, but anyway one of the devices in my care is a portable CT system. It is designed for use on heads in ICU and OR environments. The patient will not be moved from bed or table for the exam but a CT requires some means of movement through the bore to acquire image slices. For this portable system, it uses a pair of "centipede drives" matched in gain and drive such that they translate exactly the same distance on both tracks so that the path of travel does not become skewed. The device responsible for driving the mechanicals is this:

a can bussed motor controller. I imagine it is not very cheap, but it could provide an interesting solution to some of y'all hangin out here.
