If quality DIY audio in 2013 is your desire, try Elliot Sound Products for some real info and reality. He is a good guy that doesn't want to raid your pocketbook with misinformation and superlatives.
BTW, Elliot Sound Products has pretty much created a business model where he just sells small circuit board that can be very reasonably sent world-wide by normal letter postal service.. not of the Fed Ex, UPS, or Priorty Package nonsense.
I have bought and built several of his boards with complete satisfaction. Often they can also be hacked to do some surprising things as well.

Yes, I second that. Elliot Sound Products is about the last bastion of sensible quality audio on the planet.
