HB-25 problems

Hi,

I'm having trouble using HB-25 motor controller. It used to work really well but suddenly stopped working, I'm using it with a 7.2 V DC motor and batteries (LiPo) or a power supply.
Anyone having the same trouble??

Thanks

Check the fuse on the board

I already checked the fuse (replaced it with a fuse from another HB that works) and it's fine. I'm worried because the green LED turns on and also the fan but nothing happens with the motor. I've tried both single and dual mode. D:

Have you tried switching out each of the components in the system, one at a time, and try to isolate the problem that way?

suzymzc, maybe you've actually blown it up somehow. Assuming you have two of them, try switching to the other one and see that your code actually causes the motor to respond. I'm fairly damage-prone and have blown up most everything make except for one of these. Doesn't mean you can't find a way - there's smoke in all of our parts that wants to be released.

If you still feel it's gone bad after reading SRLM's post above, we can swap it out for you. Contact my Sales Manager Jim Carey (yeah, that's his real name) and tell him that I approved a replacement for you. Depending on where you are we can have this problem solved by the weekend.

I thought I had blown up one of my HB-25s too, but the problem ended up being the pin in my Prop Board of Education. Right now, Pin 14 is useless, so I moved the HB-25 to Pin 15 and it works. Have you tried another I/O pin? Are you running the HB-25 from a Propeller board or BS2? Just some guesses at debugging the problem.

    Oh, and...
Hey Ken, got a replacement Prop BOE for me? :-) I expect to need Pin 14 at some point...

    You know he does! http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?143015-Improvement-to-the-Propeller-BOE-Lifetime-Warranty

It's hard to go wrong with Parallax stuff. But if you do, just return the scorched hardware to Ken and Jim and they will put the magic smoke back in.

How do you have it connected?

Have you double checked all the wiring?

Are you using both a signal connection and ground lead to the HB-25? Many people forget about the common ground and depending on your setup it may/may not work well) without it.

What microcontroller are you using? (Propeller, BASIC Stamp, Arduino, etc)

If you are using a Propeller board which one? Are you using a board that has the 3.3V to 5V translator chips on it?

If you are connecting directly to one of the propeller pins it is recommended to use a 1K resistor inline with the connection to the HB-25.

Of course I do - just like the signature image below says we do!

You need to get me your shipping and sales information for a replacement. There's no sense in having you think about P14 anymore where you could be working with a fully functional Propeller BOE!

Ken, you're generous to a fault.

So when will you update your lifetime warranty to: DOUBLE your blown boards back ?

What a great company Parallax be.

Are you trying to give me an opportunity to advertise?

erco, just trying to treat you guys the way I'd want to be treated. Plus, I really think the Propeller BOE is a super design and I see how our internal team builds them. They're doing the best work they can, using the best machines, and with the most complete test procedure. We've got 20 years of manufacturing experience into this product and we want to stand by it!

Yeah, blow it up - we'll replace it. We want our customers to be confident to experiment even though they spent $129. All this political talk about how to bring jobs back here is a bit crazy - what we need to do is support our customers to create, to innovate, to make products and to continue to develop our economy around ingenuity (instead of housing and banking - blahhhh). Whatever we can do to make you a success returns it far more than an initial sale. That's the economy we need.

    Hey suzymzc -
Any updates? Got it working, or still stuck?
