    Ken,

    Thanks.

You forgot the trees. Finland has a lot of Forest. Although many of the wood pulping plants are now becoming data centers. They have nice big buildings and a lot of water nearby for cooling.

In recent years a few Chili farms have sprouted up in Finland. There is a pretty huge Chili festival in Tampere every year.

Chip would probably put my Finnish to shame. I'm a Brit who has been lost in the forest for years and despite having attended Finnish courses a couple of times I'm still hopless at it.

How did Chip get into Finnish?

Next years chilli crop will have to be helped along by a Prop controlled lighting, heating and watering system:)

Reminds me of my own eperiments with indoor gardening...

    Rule 1: Never grow peas...
    http://our.windowfarms.org/2010/10/23/update-on-my-wf/

That's a Hydroponic farm, and the most advanced bit of 'electronics' in it is a timer set to activate for 15 minutes every Hour. That switches on a small aquarium air-pump that's used to lift liquid to the top of the columns, where it drips down from pot to pot and ends up back in the reservoir.
Yes, I know, I should have used at least a BS2 for the job...
I even designed a 'top up' system for the reservoir that used delay switches usually used on cars to keep the interior light on a few seconds after the door has been closed.

It hasn't been in use for a year now, though. Probably time to start it up again now as fresh veggies tends to become more expensive during winter.
Salads are extremely easy to grow this way. Chilis also works well, herbs seems to thrive, and peas creates jungles. My Squash never really worked. Only got the male flowers...
I've been told that strawberries also works good.
Root vegetables doesn't work in hydroponic gardens, though.
And frankly, I can't remember what tomatoes are classed as this week, but if you find a variant with sort stems, it should work, too.

That is a gorgeous plant, Heater! I wish we'd had such success. We bought ghost pepper seeds last spring from an eBay seller, and not a single seed germinated.

    User Name,

Thanks. I never managed to get one to such a size before. It needs a bigger pot. This year all the seeds I planted failed to germinate. Even the ones obtained from a Finnish Chilli farm. The seeds for that bush came from a Chilli farm in the south of England, bought on a whim whilst in Dublin. They have been around a bit!

So far this hobby has not required any soldering or programming. I think it's time to fix that with some automation project...

Oh, except that picture is a cut down version of an image taken with a Raspberry Pi and it's camera module. Hmm...time lapse photography of chilli growing....

    How's your Swedish?

I buy all my seeds from a Swedish store,

(Hopefully you have someone who can help you navigate the site and order)

No Swedish I afraid. That store looks good.
