Installing FTDI Drivers

G'day,
I know this probably isn't the best place to be asking this, but I'm kind of stuck with getting the Propeller chip working with Ubuntu 12.04. I've downloaded BST, and now I'm wanting to install the FTDI drivers. I've downloaded the FTDI driver archive, and I've unzipped it, and I have found only the source code, and I am wondering if anyone might be able to help me install the FTDI drivers from source into Ubunut 12.04.
So, I've gone to: http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm, downloaded the version 1.5.0 (for linux), unzipped it, now, could anyone point me in the direction on what to do next?
Thanks,
John

You should see a /dev/ttyUSB0 appear if an FTDI is plugged into a usb port. If not something's missing.
