Like we don't have enough mindless vehicles careening around the expressways already. ;-)

I'm already working on my own concept for an autonomous vehicle. It's about the size of a motorcycle and it's designed to ride independently of my own car about 60 feet in front of me when I'm driving down the road in states that allow autonomous vehicles. It will have its gas tank mounted right in front along with some shaped-charges designed to totally obliterate any vehicles coming at me head-on from the other lane. The blast wave will be engineered to hurl the debris out to my sides so I won't even have to slow down when the inevitable happens.

I've named it the PilotHoleTM. I'm still taking orders, there's already a waiting list but I'll give special consideration to my pals here on the forum.

Now, now, be nice. Only some vehicles will have 2 mindless controllers. The majority of them will only have 1.

I've said it before and I will say it again:

As long as humans are allowed to drive cars on the road, computers should not be allowed to drive cars on the road. No computer can match the speed of human error behind the wheel. If human drivers actually obeyed vehicle code, autonomous vehicles might have a chance......

    designed to ride independently

TM. . The law states there must be a human at the wheel in case things go awry.

@ElectricAye: I greatly admire the path of destruction left by your PilotHole. Sign me up!

We might even work out a deal whereby I second-source the shaped charges.

Surely this is merely a minor legal technicality that will be overturned by legislation sponsored by Walmart, Fedex, UPS, et al after people get "used" to the concept of autonomous vehicles.

Shall I put you down on our waiting list?

Welcome aboard! I've got back orders longer than the Highway to Hell.
