RFID connection distance

The distance between reader and tag had been discussed all over the place. Luckily, this isn't one of those questions.

What's the longest successful distance you have acheived between a Parallax reader (or read/write) RFID module and a uC (Prop preferred, but any data is good data)? Any extra hardware used?

The reason for this question is that I may have an upcoming app where there will be multiple readers, spaced let's say, six feet apart. I think it likely that the distance wouldn't be a problem, but it's better to know up front during the thinkin' stage than when it's crunch-time...

EDIT: changed would be a problem to wouldn't be a problem... <sigh> time for more coffee...

RFID distance depends heavily upon what type of rfid antenna, what frequency, the power of your rfid transmitter, and the sensitivity of the receiver.

So just like all things RF, it's a factor of everything.

RFID can be long range with the right equipment.

The basic parallax RFID stuff will not get you that range.

Go look at alien rfid equipment for long range.

Austria Micro Systems has some strong rfid chips too

Thanks for the post. Unfortunately, that's not what the question was:
