On behalf of RobotShop, we wish to take this opportunity to welcome you. We are happy to count you as one of our customers. Not much will change with respect to your Lynxmotion experience, and if it does change in the future, it will change for the better.
*
You can still order at www.lynxmotion.com using your existing account. Your pricing and experience will not change as we strive to work with you and ensure that you are completely satisfied with your purchases and experience with Lynxmotion or RobotShop.

Here are some initial changes that should have a positive effect:
We accept credit cards as a payment method for international customers (in addition to wire transfer)
We have reduced UPS shipping fees on Lynxmotion website by 30%
We are open Monday to Friday and will ship most orders the same day if the products are in stock.
RobotShop prides in providing a professional, fast and responsive customer service. In the first week of transition, some items will appear to be out of stock while we move them to the new warehouse. Great! Maybe you will accept my platinum credit card on an international order now. Linuxmotion insisted I pay both mine and their fees on an international wire transfer for an added cost of about $60USD on every order.

Needless to say, I abandoned doing business with them in spite of a lot of excellent products.

I would love to know what some of the margins are on some of the bots over at RobotShop.

I get how a bomb disposal robot pays for itself.

But what about us hobby people? We're WAY more important!

I wish Mario and his team at RS well, and to Jim Frye at Lynxmotion, who has worked long and hard for a well-deserved retirement!

Ya, I wish them both good luck. I'm just kind of sad that he's retiring. His story was always inspirational. :)

Jim is one of the hardest working Americans - he's been at it as long as I can remember (1996?) without stopping.

He deserves a break and the chance to reclaim his original joys of designing and building without the market pressure of selling along the way.

Way to go Jim and Mario! Must be the first robo-consolidation of business I've seen.

I read Jim's announcement in the Lynxmotion forum, and sad to say some of the reasoning is that both he and his wife have been dealing with severe arthritis, which obviously makes building robots pretty difficult! Some years back I had a pinched nerve that caused numbness in both hands, which put a dent in everything I did, including trying to construct kits. I was fortunate that some good physical therapy restored 100% function, but arthritis is not so forgiving.

Jim mentioned RobotShop's Coleman Benson will be handling the day-to-day Lynxmotion operations. I've dealt with Coleman, and found him to be quick, courteous, and knowledgeable. So I think this may work to everyone's advantage -- not that Jim, Annette, James, and the others weren't also, but you know what I mean.
