Hello All,

I've downloaded Wing 3D, but, I am not able to get started with making components. I could not find any sample's to start with either. I was able to find and download (for FREE) 4 of the last 5 components that I need, but Wing did not recognize them and I don't know how to change them (File type:SLDPRT).

Basically I'm lost....do I want to learn another program, not really, but looks like I'm gonna have to for my project to be completed with 3d mode.
TASK:
1) convert file type:SLDPRT to work with DIPTRACE 3D mode.
2) save to correct file location.
3) size it so it's not to big or small
Thanks for any help
Howard

    SLDPRT is Solidworks.
I can open them with rhino or maybe some other 3D modeler I have.
What format do you want it converted to?
Anyway I can do the conversion for you.

    Hello Max72,

    I'm trying to use them with DipTrace.com's 3d viewer (.wrl). I'm also looking for Pin Header's (1 x 2 / 1 x 3 / 2 x 5) to complete my project.

Thanks for any help and let me know what I have to do.

    Hi,
I have diptrace but never tested the 3D part.. :-)
Anyway post sldprt files and I'll try to convert to a couple of formats that should be compatible with diptrace.
Have you searched with google for an header model, or maybe RS? They have a lot of 3d models to download.

If enough people ask, maybe diptrace would upgrade to an industry standard format. I tried wings, and got frustrated with it. One way around is to use meshlab, and import an stl, then export 3ds.

Diptrace uses wings3d as a renderer, so it uses industry standard. It looks like it acceprts vrml and 3ds, so no problem on this side. Problem is many vendors offer to download proprietary 3D models.
They should offer iges or step at least..

I wandered across EagleUp for use with Eagle files recently. There aren't a lot of models available yet, but I've found it quite easy (and a little addictive) to whip them up in Google SketchUp.

    Hello JLocke,

I'm in Round Rock, TX., cool, right next door(Keep Austin Weird). Austin, TX. talk for those who are not up to date. Take care.
