There's always a chance, right? http://news.yahoo.com/earhart-expedition-team-says-video-possibly-shows-plane-040327186.html

Pity the poor band that waited... and waited... and waited... to play the song "Welcome Home Amelia Earhart"...

I think it's time to move on, Guys.

    Bah, old news..
We all know that Earhart has wound up on a planet in the Delta Quadrant, to be discovered around 200 years from now...

    erco,

Stupid band. The Moody Blues were singing "Timothy Leary's dead" long before he was.

BTW, how do you split up 3d space into "quadrants"?

What baffles me is that people are willing to spend $2.2 million on that expedition to look for the wreckage. I can think of a lot of good that could be done with that kind of money.

OBC, glad to hear you are a fellow Trekkie! I think that was one of Voyager's better episodes.

As a parent of a child who is non-verbal and has autism, I could say that more times than I have microseconds to live in a very long ife still ahead of me (i hope). But thank god (you can supply your own deity here) that we live in a country where we get to decide what our own priorities and choices are. We have all seen how successful governments are at picking winners, defining five year plans etc and otherwise demonstrating their ineptitude at things they have little business engaging in....... Yeah, like business..... Or farming methods......

The freedom to spend your money on baffling projects is a wonderful thing. I remember years ago doing a search on "checkerboard squirrel" to see what I'd come up with. I actually found stuff.

Solving mysteries is a primal human urge. In seeking the answers to questions like "Where is the Titanic?" or "What happened to Amelia Earhart?" we often learn new techniques and find the answers to other questions we didn't even know to ask.

Very true. I do realize that just because I don't see the value in a particular project or quest, doesn't mean there is no value in it to someone else. You have to love the freedom that we enjoy to go our own way (for the most part).
