IMO, Bill and Melinda Gates need to concentrate more on helping at home, especially since third world countries are more worried about getting food than where/how to dispose of the food in a "Green" manner.

Disposing of waste safely, instead of flushing it into open sewers, is a big factor in the availability of clean water and disease prevention. I think Bill has identified an important avenue of research for the benefit of third-world countries.

Phil, You are correct and I guess when I first watched it that did not come to mind. However, I still think the people are more concerned about where their next meal is coming from. It is quite difficult to work when you are hungry all the time. If the people wer fed well, maybe they could build the facilities that would solve sanitary and other issues. A local airline supports a program called "Children Of The Dump", It is in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Kids actually scavange for food at the dump and sanitary conditions are the least of their worries,
