t6963 graphcs display queston for someone with experience wth them

I was given a graphics lcd based on the t6963 controller. I was able to get the demo code working and the display has 5 horizontal lines that are the color of the background - white I guess if you would call it that. Does that mean it is deffective or is it a code issue? I would vote deffective but I don't know much about them. The code runs some graphics that draw lines and these are brighter than the drawing. t takes a negatve voltage for the contrast - tough one to find.

Lot of work to get this piece of scrap working. Is there any way to test this thing?
Thanks.

Jerry

I'm not familiar with t6963... Do you have any web links to the product you are trying to use?

The 6963 I remember from old style graphics LCDs, the important thing in your instance is getting the negative voltage which is definitely required as you can see from the display. Just hook up a 9V battery for now to test but you can get negative voltages from MAX232 style chips.

thanks, I have it running demo code and it looks defective. There are 5 horizontal lines across it and no matter how I set the negatve voltage, they stay. At first I thought it was something in the code but I am pretty sure it is defective now.

so after it is running for a while it developed additional horizontal lines. I wonder if there is something else going on with power, etc. It also had two vertical lines that went away after power off/on. I am running it off the prop quickstart board and am going to try a separate 5v supply next.
