Ceramic Capacitors

Hi everyone,
I have a questions about disk ceramic capacitors and their smd counter parts, are the two kinds interchangeable? (I know that that they are different in size, what I'm wondering is if I make a design on a breadboard can I then transfer it to PCB using smd components that have the same capacitance and voltage)
The second question I have is does the color of the ceramic capacitor mean anything is a bright yellowish capacitor the same as a brown/red capacitor if the capacitance values are the same or am are overlooking something?
Thanks in advance

In some minor ways the smt capacitors may be better since their smaller size allows a more compact layout that may reduce the inductance and resistance of board traces.
The color of a capacitor does not normally mean anything. Different colored capacitors with the same ratings will work the same in a circuit.
