I’ll try to clarify a little bit. I had planned to do a blog post but this thread came up first.
Some of you may remember me as Education Manager at Parallax US. I presented myself in this blog post some time ago:
http://forums.parallax.com/entry.php?133-Introducing-Ari-Alvarez
Parallax Hong Kong LTD registered the name SimplyTronics.
I’m currently shifting my focus to increase operations in Asia. I’m in the transition of leaving Parallax Inc. (US) and will dedicate my efforts in developing SimplyTronics.
As Parallax Hong Kong LTD we were focused in contract manufacturing and sourcing parts from China, but we also designed some products. Now that we registered our own trade name we’ll be releasing products designed by this other company as SimplyTronics (these products were being designed and released under Parallax Inc until now).
We’re working hard in the behind-the-scene part of the company and we will be going more public soon.
The next product we’re going to release soon (under SimplyTronics name) is a Propeller powered 8x8 RGB LED Matrix display module. The modules can be interconnected to form multiple size diplays.
We have a strong relationship with Parallax Inc. and will continue designing products based on Parallax microcontrollers whenever possible.
Hi Mike,
All products listed in the SimplyTronics website were designed by SimplyTronics engineers (under Parallax Hong Kong at the time). We're in the transition to label the PCBs as SimplyTronics products or adding the "Designed by SimplyTronics" label to clarify origin. You have seen similar labels in products that Joe Grand designed for Parallax when he stated "Designed by Grand Idea Studio" or showing Joe's website. We're currently revising PCB files so the new manufacturing batches will show SimplyTronics on them.
This is the post when I announced the product:

And here you can see a mini-project posted by the engineer that designed the product:
