They don't explain how or if it moves to catch the trash thrown at it, IMHO it's likely just a carefully choreographed video. But a nicely done video and an excellent synchro-drive robot chassis and demo.

    In the video it shows a Microsoft Kinect mounted on the wall. It must be feeding data to a PC that then sends the movement commands to the robot. The project is really well done and the quality of the base it awesome.

    I have a diaper caddy that needs some smarts... but it would have to have tracks and gps... hmmmm

    I'm convinced that there will be a market for smart trash cans, but not to pick up trash. People already have cans that open themselves, the next step is to have it roll out to a cooking./ preperation station and then go back to a storage spot. There is also a huge value in a can that could leave trash bags outside of the kitchen, even if it only took them wrapped to a nearby laundry room for a homecare person to pick up later. More and more elderly Americans are going to be alone in a big house with less physical strength, agility, and balance. Everything you can do to help them stay at home is very valuable.
