At $28 for one on a breakout board from Sparkfun, I might try soldering a couple at $3 to see if it can be done.

Hard to understand why you'd need screw terminals for a PICAXE cable programmer interface. Lose that and you could shave a buck off right there.

The ADXL345 is the accelerometer that Jason Dorie is combining with the ITG-3200 gyro (used in the Hoverfly sport board and his QuadX project) for self leveling of his quadcopter. So I put one of these on my Elev-8 to be ready when he releases his code.
