I must be very organized whenever I work on a project. I generally start working, and for five to ten hours just work away on the project. After I'm tired, then I clean everything up and put it all away. Tools go back into the tool chest, parts that I didn't end up using go back into the parts bin, and the main project goes into it's storage area. On the software side, I find that I must be vigilant about keeping file names accurate, and stored in the correct place.

Also, I now use Git repos to store all of my project data. It's just too convenient to let pass by.

I optimize my workspace to make my work as efficient as possible. I make the desk and computer fit me, not the other way around. I use dual monitors to see everything I need at once, I use a comfortable chair so my body doesn't hurt (20 hours continuous programming is my personal best), I use a programmer Dvorak Kinesis keyboard and a nice Logitec mouse so my hands don't hurt, I have comfortable wireless headphones to play music over, and I custom built my desk surface to fit my body and chair. All in all, each little improvement increases my efficiency and minimizes distraction, leading to better work in less time.

Finally, you can help by limiting distractions. I don't watch TV except when I'm eating food (by myself), and I don't wander the web. Playing computer games is a big distraction, and I avoid that like the plague. To stop new distractions from filling in the void, I force myself to do a little bit of work on a project every day. That way it won't die out and disappear.

"Getting Ideas organized and projects completed?"

During my time on the Propeller forum I have discovered a very simple way to achieve this.

    1) Just mention your idea for a project on the forum, in passing.

    2) Perhaps make a hint that you have started on it but it will be a challenge to complete.

    OR

    3) Better yet suggest that is probably impossible on the Propeller.

    4) Wait until it gets done:)

See, easy, just put the idea out there and then forget it::)

I use Forum SW as I said in a prev post to keep things in check .

Looks like I need to do some updates to it .

Being organized has got to help. I spent 2 hours this morning looking for a power cable. I was sure I had put it somewhere that made sense when I straightened out my mess of cables and wires a couple of months ago, but I couldn't find it and finally just made a new one. Several hours later while working on something else (organizing stuff), I found the cable I'd been looking for in a stack of three boxes in my "needs to be sorted" pile. The only boxes I hadn't dug through in my earlier searching, because I knew that cable had already been "organized".
