I was just wondering if anyone out there has ever used the LM1871 and LM1872 combination? These are for RC transmit and receive. If you have used them let me know how well they worked out. I found some in my "Great Day at the Garage Sales" http://forums.parallax.com/showthread.php?141267-Great-Day-at-the-Garage-Sales!!!!
bins and would like to put them to use.

If you post on R/C hobby sites, I am sure you will find many hobbyist interested in them.
Of course, the transmitter side is a bit more complex as you usually have two joysticks. So I have doubts that trying to build from scratch is a really great idea. But if one eliminates the joysticks and finds a way to have a Propeller use a mouse or two to provide inputs, there are some rather appealing features. The main one is the 6 channels. 27Mhz requires a rather long antenna and is not allowed in every country. Other countries use 49Mhz. You need matched crystal sets appropriate for your country. Some countries want cars and boats on one band and airplanes on the other. Newer technologies have gone to the Ghz range and very short, compact antennas.
