Before these go off to Ebay, I thought I'd offer these to my forumista friends.

I have the fortune to have obtained some 1gb microSD cards.

These will need to be re-partitioned/formatted, but is no big deal as there is a free program for windows which will do this in seconds.

12 for $10.00 free shipping (US only)

Contact me by email jeffledger @ (that email server that google runs) and I'll make arrangements to get them out to you.

Jeff, I received mine on Friday.

Apparently these are 1 giga bit cards. They are 143 MegaBytes.

Still plenty useful but I don't recall seeing uSD card capacity listed in bits before.

I'm very sure Jeff wasn't trying to misslead me or anyone else but when I saw 1gb, I wrongly assumed 1GB. I just thought I'd point it out in case any one else doesn't notice the lower-case gb.

Just to be very clear, I do not feel I was intentionally misslead. And no, I don't want my money back. I'll have a very difficult time using up 143MB with Prop data.

    Duane,

I can assure you they are not 143 Megabytes. You need to re-partition and re-format them. You are seeing a single 143MB partition.

If you've got a Windows box, it's pretty easy. I'm using this program to re-partition and re-format them.

Wish you'd just emailed me. Now we both look silly.

If you want to send them back and I'll refund you, that is fine. Let me know.,

On the contray, I think I'm the only one looking silly.

I, once again, assumed incorrectly, that additional partitions would show up in "My Computer". If I had just followed your directions to start with I wouldn't have had any trouble but then the world wouldn't know how good I am at messing up simple instructions.

The program is pretty simple to use, but there are several people who got these from me, so I'll see if I can work up some instructions. I've managed to partition and format these just shy of 1gb as FAT, FAT32, and NTFS formats using that program.

Let me know if you get stuck. I'm sure any questions that pop-up will only aid others. :)

One thing that wasn't obvious to me initially was the need to "Apply" the changes. I had wondered why I didn't get any kind of progress bar when I choose format (after delete partition). I don't know if I did things in the most effcient way, but I now have a 1 GB uSD disk formatted and ready for use. Pretty cool.

Do you have any suggestions on the best way to format these uSD cards for use with the Prop?

    Thanks for the deal.

I was able to use some of these as FAT16 with FSRW, but probably the best way to partition and format them would be FAT32.

I bought 106 of these from OBC and I just connect them to my MAC and do the FAT16 single partition format for the whole card and they work fine with FSRW, etc.

I also received my cards Friday, thanks!

One question -- Jeff, do you know the speed of the MicroSD cards? It's not important for my purposes, but I'm just curious...

I don't have name or speed details on these. Sorry!

Jeff, I've been meaning to say thanks for the handful of microSD cards I bought. I tested every one, and they all work great .

I also was surprised at first to see they initially only formatted in Windows as 143 MB.

But then I used a modified propeller utility to read the card's internal sector count, and saw that they really were 1 gig cards.

I connected the microSD to a Linux system, and Linux mounted all four partitioned filesystems from the MicroSD! It seems these were formatted for the defunct "chumby" device and still contain several copies of its arm Linux OS in multiple partitioned filesystems.

Either the Windows disk manager or the Linux fdisk is able to drop the existing partitions and reformat the microSD as one large partition.
