Define Argentiferous: NO GOOGLING!

Who can effortlessly use that word in common everyday conversation, besides Tracy, Mike, PhiPi and Beau?

No Googling, and only click on the link below if you're desperate. Or as dumb as I am.

Hint: look at the first part of the word en francais. And ultimately, yes it relates to electronics. Vintage radios in particular.

Being argentiferous isn't nearly as good as being auriferous, however. :)

I'm certain it has something to do with the metal silver, but beyond that I don't know. Made of silver or containing silver maybe?

Isn't "argent" blue. And isn't "ferous" iron, Fe.
    So "blue iron".
    Checks links.

Pyritiferous too rather touches on cat's whiskers, and too a promising cathode, and too a glint favored by fools.

Producing music from the British rock band Argent.

Not as successful as Beatleiferous, Rolling Stoniferous or Whoiferous, obviously but not fatal like J. Bieberiferous.

Due to the latest round of austerity measures, citizens have began using their argentiferous radios to listen to words of encouragement from our esteemed leader.

Ha, no its nothing to do with iron - a real gotcha!

...ferous = carrying/bearing, as in aquiFER. Think of silly latinesque words like "splendiferous"
ferrous = related to iron (sometimes implies iron II oxidation state, ferric always implies iron III oxidation state) The latin for iron is ferrum, for silver is argentum

ferous in terms of Iron would have two 'r' s
argentum is Silver and has Hebrew roots, but don't ask me why the Periodic table only shows "Ag" ... I guess "Ar" for Argon was already in use. :-)

Don't blame me I am a autodidact ... I remember seeing argentum listed on a periodic table.

Well they could have just used "A" for one of them... There seems to be no logic behind which single letters are used for elements (like C, N, O) and which ones aren't (A for argon, L for lithium would be obvious choices for instance)

containing or made of or resembling or characteristic of a metal; "a metallic compound"; "metallic luster".

This is the definition for "metal, metallic" which is in the Thesaurus section at TheFreeDictionary.com, below the actual definition for argentiferous.

After looking this up I was surprised to see that I had kind of guessed right. The only reason I knew silver was involved was because of the British rock band Argent.
