Mac use with HYDRA

After reading through the PARALLAX forums, and learning about some of the issues, I am still unable to get the BST program to compile any file to the HYDRA larger than 1000 longs or 4 kb.. Am getting consistent Compiler Crashed errors.

Computer: PowerBook G4, 867 Mhz, 512 MB RAM, OS X 10.5.8

BST ver 19.4 pre 12

FTIUSB Serial Driver v2_2_17 for OS X 10.4 through 10.7

Thank you for any suggestions that you may be able to offer.

First of all, use the last "official" version (0.19.3) that you can get from the website. I've used BST on a PowerBook and have been able to compile large programs (on the order of 16Kb) without problems. I'm not sure which version I used, but it was one of the released versions.

Thank you for the suggestion to revert to the BST 19.3 released version. I continue to encounter the Compiler Crashed error messages, so hooked up the Hydra to a newer Mac Mini with same results.

Core Two Duo 1.8 Mhz, I GB RAM

    OS 10.5.8

    BST 19.3

    same serial driver

I suspect that the problem has little or nothing to do with BST or the serial drivers since I've used all sorts of versions of both and MacOS versions over time with large and small programs without ever getting that error message and others have done the same. Try removing BST completely and reinstalling both the serial drivers from scratch and BST from scratch. Make sure you permissions are correct as well.
