The LCD seems a bit on the small side. For better visibility for old eyes and for displaying several medications taken at the same time, a TV monitor would show more data and larger type fonts.
for displaying several medications taken at the same time
I would have to disagree with displaying several medications at one time, which would introduce a higher possibility of error.
In my opinion, only one medication should be displayed at a time, and it should require a button press to move on to the next medication or clear the screen.
The FDA doesn't care about it as long as it is made with food grade plastic which can be sterilized. I've worked in a bunch of pharmacies,I've seen a lot of pill dispensers, robots, and human dispensing systems. Different robot dispensing systems used hundreds of plastic trays that were cleaned on no regular schedule. If you're worried about sanitation with your pills at home, you might as well stop worrying unless you're dropping them on the floor, chances are they have already seen the worst by time you get them. FDA aside, it isn't hard to keep pills clean lol...

They might care about the machine giving out a fatal dose of meds. For example a software error that gives Granny ten pills instead of one. This is the point I'm trying to make regarding dispensing meds.
As with many of my other projects, this one hit the back burner. The problem still exists and I keep thinking that I should make something for this purpose to help resolve this problem.
