I'm guessing that's the default Arduino timer1 PWM rate of 490Hz - rather low for a motor, moving to 4kHz or 8kHz (or modulating it for sound effects) can be the next step of the project.

...so the motor coils are resonating with the PWM?

I always appreciate Mr. Allen's efforts.

I't hard to judge how loud something is based on the sound from a camcorder recording. Most camcorders use an audio compressor that decrease the volume of loud sounds and increase the volume of soft sounds.

PJ has stated several times it doesn't sound loud in person.

PJ, it certainly doesn't look to me like you live in Sheol. Looks a lot more like paradise.

Golden Motor eliminated the need for a chain drive.

Pretty cool. +1 for video of first run, and it working.

So, there's folks complaining about the noise, is this golf cart levels or weed whacker levels? The birds and the truck seem to drown out the scooter.

Actually, the motor whine is kind of cool. It makes it sound rather powerful and gutsy. Hollywood would pay good money for that sound to be used in a film.
