Propeller Pi... .. Hmm.. An 8+1 configuration. That could be an interesting combination with the Pi as a co-processor and the Prop controlling power usage, hardware and concurrent activities. Thanks for helping to understand how both are working. They may have a unique partnership of capabilities.

Yep, ARM + Propeller has been a long held dream of mine.
ARM for netwoking, file system, wifi, USB and all the goodness of Linux.
Prop for all the real world interfacing and real time control. Servos, steppers, whatever.

Today that dream came true as for the first time I could write code for the Prop on the PI and down load it to the Prop. No PC is even needed any more.

Your multiple processor concept is reminiscent of how the the vertebrate brain works where multiple processing centers focus on different functions. The real time critical and autonomic operations such as breathing, blood pressure are covered by the brain stem which is always on line and directly connected to the body. Coordination is handled by the cerebellum next to the brain stem and then the more energy intensive overhead such as learning and analysis is covered by the Cerebrum and other areas which are larger and can be shut down(sleep) in higher animals such as mammals. Complex behaviours can be exhibited by the "physical brain" and physical aspects can be compensated by the "abstract brain" but together they are optimised.

Perhaps, Parallax should think about future partnerships with someone like ODROID-X or Rasberry-Pi where they intentionally complement each other. I would love to be able to go 100% mobile on low power with the capabilities of both and without the need for a PC to program when and where the need strikes. It would be complementing instead of competing as with Arduino vs. PIC vs. Propeller vs. etc.

I see another thread is started on this idea. Very interesting...
