Philips Ir remote decoder help

Most of my recent bs2 projects have been using ir control. i have my bs2 programmed to receive data from a sony tv remote. but the remote is a little big so i want to change to a smaller philips remote. i have no idea how to get the stamp to decode the signal from the philips remote. i am fairly certain it uses a RC-5 protocol. i have no idea how to decode that. the remote has about a 600ms delay between messages. http://www.sbprojects.com/knowledge/ir/rc5.php

But if I may be so bold as to ask: if Sony has been working for you, why let the size of your current remote be controlling YOU? Universal remotes (programmed as Sony TV remotes) come in all sizes: http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-Keychain-Universal-Remote-Control-for-TV-Set-NEW-/220811603377?pt=US_Remote_Controls&hash=item336965adb1

And all prices. Here's one I bought from the 99-cent store. Works fine and certainly not too big: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhjqPOAr2x0
Linux users have developed software that will decode any of these. You will have to build a little device that fits on an RS232 port or a USB RS232 port adapter.
Once you have the timing codes for each and every button, you can program a BasicStamp or a Propeller to respond to them.
There are also some USB to IR dongles that work - the ME dongles (I think ME is for Microsoft Enterprise). I have one that doesn't and it is easier to DIY once that to bother with the shopping (costs less too).
