Clobbered a SMT part on my USB protoboard...does it matter?

I accidentally clobbered what appears to be a SMT resistor on my USB Protobard...was trimming some wire to length and didn't see this little part underneath...caught it with the diagonal cutters.
I have a USB protoboard...the component in question is the SMT part that is located right next to the chip, between pins 18 & 19. It is very near the Vdd pin on that side of the prop chip, though I'm not sure the SMT part is actually connected to it.
I can still get a "hello world" response out of the board...before attempting a repair, I'm wondering what does that SMT part do and is there a reason I can't live with out it? Anybody know?

I guess its inevitable that this sort of thing happens...but when I did it last night, my spirits (and motivation) were instantly deflated. I'm re-inflated...thanks.
