It should just work. It's probably /dev/ttyUSB0 or something along those lines.

Find the bst thread. I am sure these problems were discussed and resolved there. Probably best to search backwards if the first post doesn't help.

Look at what group owns /dev/ttyUSB0 and make sure you're a member of that group. It's probably "dialout" but I'm not sure as I don't use Ubuntu.

Ubuntu support forums are usually very helpful. I gave up on Red Hat and Fedora because M$ has been able to bully them into omitting several significant features that are easily available outside the USA. It all has to do with the fact that you don't have to prove the merit of your legal case to sue someone in the USA. So deep pockets entitles one to bully the GNU community.

As a long time Redhat/Fedora user I'm wondering what things that MS has bullied Redhat/Fedora into omitting. I know that they don't include many/any codecs but I always thought that was for copywrite, patent reasons. To my knowledge none of the major distrubutions don't include many if any codecs. The same holds with libdvdcss. Fortunately it's all fairly easy to get from other sources.
