Crystal-Pin Socket Part Number?

Maybe this has been asked before, but I could not find details via a forum search.

My question is:

What is the part number and supplier for the Crystal-Pin Sockets used on some of the Parallax Propeller products (e.g., the Propeller USB Protoboard)?

I have received some information via similar email requests, but received not enough info to order the correct part. In my attempts, I have purchased several groups of vendor parts that appear similar, but the part is so small that published ordering details are misleading.

If available, I would like the Part Number and Supplier.

Or, it would be nice if Parallax would ADD the socket to their list of available purchase parts. I know, it is not a hot item, . . . and not many people would buy them, but I would.

My Goal is to use the Pin Sockets to support additional small devices on the Protoboard. See:

I have upon occasion made my own by chipping individual sockets out of the more expensive DIP sockets. Would that be adequate? One 20 pin DIP socket provides 20 individual items or 10 pairs.

These also come in strips of 40 that can be cut with 2 or more together or cut individually. But by the time you finish, the plastic is often go and you have lots of individual pin sockets.

    Thanks Loopy,

Your suggestion is what I have used in the past. But I am looking for something that is still shorter and with a smaller profile that (necessarily) supports a smaller pin.

Here is one of many types that I have purchased, but it is still not the same.

I would really like to get the exact part.

    Again, Thanks

That's a nice blog page you have. Would something like these work for what you're trying to do?

    Thanks, Rick

After comparing your suggested part specs with physical measurements of the actual part on the Propeller USB Protoboard, it appears that the H3153-05 maybe a very close match - This part is so small, that it is difficult to know for sure.

I now have several of these on order.

    Again, Thanks

Eldon, I have a some Samtec low profile headers leftover from another project that I use to harvest socket pins for the every same purpose. They are 10 pin (2x5) and 6 pin (2x3) ( I also have the pin versions that mate with the socket versions). When I harvest the pins, I use them as the Crystal socket on my M44D40+ module. I used the mating connector pairs themselves on my Polar Bear Plungelogger. They are not LIF type (Low Insertion Force) so once you mate them, the retention is excellent. The 10 pin socket part number is SDL-105-G-19 for reference. The socket pin in them looks just like the Harwin pin you ordered. If you would like some for your projects, shoot me a PM.

Take a look at PN# ED90095-ND from digikey. I have been using this part for the last few years.
