Dear Customer,
Parallax is liquidating the remaining excess stock of our SX microcontrollers! Whether you've still got an SX-based product in production or you simply want to own a piece of 50 MIPS 8-bit history this is your opportunity.
Need a few thousand SX chips or more? Contact myself or Jim Carey, Sales Manager (jcarey@parallax.com) and strike a deal of your own. No reasonable offers will be refused! These chips need to find their way out of our warehouse so we can make room for new technology.
SX48BD-G
1+ $1.55
1,000+ $1.50
137,087 units in stock
SX28AC/SS-G
1+ $1.15
1,000+ $1.05
27,639 units in stock
SX28AC/DP
1+ $1.15
1,000+ $1.10
42,488 units in stock
Datasheets are available at the bottom of each of the above SX pages. Thanks to Guenther Daubach and Andre' LaMothe you can now buy the SX-Key USB V. 2.1 for $59.99. The programming and debugging tool was recently put back into production.
We have retained a lifetime supply of SX chips for use in our BASIC Stamp products, which are not affected by these inventory reduction efforts.
Sincerely,
Ken Gracey

I guess even the 8080 had to bow out at some point.
Jim
Prices are fluctuating by the moment, Jim! A few minutes ago a Eurozone customer just grabbed a bunch, causing the SX commodity to increase in value. Unless there's another strong buy at the end of the day we expect prices to fluctuate regularly while the market is open.

I *just* made the decision to go with it in a re-design of my main product.
Ken has stated over and over again that the Stamps are not going to be affected by the EOL of the SX processor. This liquidation is of the SX chips above and beyond those set aside to be used to manufacture Stamps and other Parallax hardware using the SX. I think they allocated more than a 10 year supply at the current sales rate.
Oh, my. This question again. There must be 326 people with the same question.
When we started the EOL process I banked 15 years of SX chips for ALL BASIC Stamp designs (modules, interpreter chips, whatever. . . ). That was more than five years ago. And we still have 15 years worth of SX chips. That 15 years of supply is locked up in a special cage at Parallax called "WH C" and is for our production uses.
I mean what I said and I said what I mean. And I ain't no politician so you can trust me.
You have nothing to worry about, Dave.
Now how many thousands do you need?
Ken Gracey
I hear, I understand...I've nothing to worry about concerning the availability of the 2p40.
How many will I need? I'm prayin' a bunch!
That makes two of us. We're in good company.
Ken
So is the 8-bit futures market affected more by the Greek election or the price of oil? I gotta call my broker!
Make sure you keep a stable of chip inventory off site away from the Parallax building (like at Chip's house) in case of a fire or something.
