MOBO2PE with Color sensor

I am totally new at this but I am learning a lot. I am experimenting with a MOBO2PE along with a Taos TLS230. My ultimate goal is to transfer the sensed color to a PLC. So far the options I see to be achievable are using the optional i/o board to output a analog value. Option 2 would be using the option i/o boards 6 outputs to form a 36 bit word, and 3rd communicating via serial to the PLC. I am reading all I can on the serial, but I am not entirely confident on the communications lingo. Can someone tell me if I am looking in the right direction or not? I downloaded the color sensor files and was able to tweak the code to display a numeric value of the combined RGB values. I can do exactly what I want program wise with that but its getting it off the stamp that eludes me. I can live with basic colors, I don't necessarily need 256 but that would be neat ultimately. Ideas?

Welcome to the forum!
Which PLC are you using, and what kind of serial (RS232, RS485, ... -- protocol?) and analog inputs (voltage -- range?, 4-20mA, ...) does it support?

That being the case, I think your best option might be to wire up a sensitive relay or optoisolator circuit on a Proto-DB, which will plug into the MoBo. Is that something that you'd be comfortable with?
