PropBOE

My PropBOE board arrived today thanks to someone a hop and a skip from Parallax. I have done a few things with it and all is fine so far. However, now I need to use the I2C bus - but I can't see anyway of accessing it (without solder). I must be missing something?

Cheers

Richard

    ...that's not very clever Parallax!

I don't see any way to get to P28 and P29, but I2C can be on any two pins.

Check your spelling. If you use Propeller rather than Propellor you'll get those web pages.

http://learn.parallax.com/ has entry points for the PropellerBOE. Cute pictures too.

Hmm... I don't have a board handy. So there is a typo PropellorBOE -> PropellerBOE?

Red face here in England. Dictionary out. Parallax can spell but I can't.

Thanks for tips on I2C - I thought the idea was that several devices hang off the bus so I rather expected to have some way of getting to it.

Looks like I will have to do something more complicated to get my peripheral working.

    Cheers

No one wants you to feel bad. I always have trouble with the word behavior (behaviour?).

I've run into the I2C access issue too. The least that could be done is add a few through-hole pads for that if not put them on a bread-board edge connector.

Okay - all sorted now. I2C implemented and peripheral peripheralising very nicely!

I didn't realise how simple it was to implement additional I2C busses. Took a couple of resistors and a look at the OBEX.

You probably already know about the pads to all the pins (except P20 and P21) on the bottom of the board? I guessing you do, since you included "without solder" in your request.

Parallax discontinued the underside pads with Rev B of the Prop BOE. No pads on mine.

I didn't know. I wonder what their reasons were for discontinuing the pads?

I'm curious about that too... I just realized last night that it doesn't have the solder pads (not that I had any plans for them).
