This begs for further exploration... Can we throw a Slinky and treadmill into the mix? Can a Prop & PID make this mo' better? Xbee? IR remote? I2C?

(I can honestly see some people trying to return their cornstarch-encrusted speakers to Radio Shack.)

From Youtube: Corn starch is a shear thickening non-Newtonian fluid meaning that it becomes more viscous when it is disturbed. When it's hit repeatedly by something like a speaker cone it forms weird tendrils. The video was shot at 30 fps and the speaker cone was vibrating at 30 Hz which is why there is no blur. This is the original video with the actual sound of the speaker.

The next time I see some old speakers going out to the trash I'll have to grab them and try it. I think this would make a cool demo for the Cub Scouts.
