Maxim have realeased an interesting new IC - the MAX44005 RGB Color, Temperature, and Infrared Proximity Sensor. I'm sure some intrepid Parallaxian will want to use this.

The subtitle of the Maxim page for this product is "Optical Fusion: Digitize Colors and Detect Proximity at 12µA." I read the last part as "Detect Proximity at 12 micro Angstroms." I was thinking that's pretty close!

@ erco - the pins are only 0.3mm x 0.75mm on 0.65mm centres. Shouldn't be that difficult
