Hello All,

I want to start a new project with by basic stamp 2, lcd, and a web cam, I want to interface the webcam to the basic stamp 2 to be able to track objects, identify objects, etc but I don’t know where to begin of if it is even possible with the basic stamp 2 I do have a prop stick but have no clue about the programming, the bs2 I am sort of ok with on that end, has anyone done this before or have any ideas

hardware:

basic stamp2
board of education
lcd
webcam (will try to get 1 a.s.a.p)

I do have many more sensors ,etc if they are deemed necessary but I thought that this will be the basics

thank in advance

You need something with far more power and memory to do that sort of thing, like a BeagleBoard. You could interface the webcam to a PC and develop your image-processing code on that, initially.

A CMU Camera can detect color and track. The interface is serial TTL which the BS2 can easily handle.

You might try a webcam connected to your PC and roborealm software.

I've listed some Propeller machine vision links in post #4 of my index. You might want to check them out if you don't want to use a PC.
