There is a big difference though between an idea and a documented design with construction instructions.

Naturally, it's easier to toss out ideas than finished products. I'm simply saying that an idea is the nexus of a product, and Forumistas had no problem shouting out ideas to Matt inside this very friendly forum (which is quite public, submitted ideas are in threads forever, available to anyone who wants to look and potentially take for free).
It appeared to me that there was some mob mentality against Jameco here, and I'm just pointing out some of the often-overlooked realities of submitting ideas/products to various companies. Jameco's royalty rates are fairly standard. This new program was just rolled out and there may be some issues to clarify or change, as Greg and others have pointed out.
Definitely voice your opinions/concerns to Jameco in order to improve their program. It's not in any company's best interest to try to cheat or lowball inventors. Quite the contrary, they want to court the inventor community and be recognized as the "first choice" for inventors to go to. They don't want to see something that has already been seen (and passed over) by competitors.
