I'd name it "Chuckles" and take it to the vet. (What is it?)

It's the new acrylic PING and IR sensor holder-thingy!

And to answer the original question...as the Oneder's lead guitarist Lenny answered a similar question:

    "...I have no idea."

Use it as target practice for the S2 Marauder and see if it can track the rubber band in real time and put up a shield. :)

Probably make a small metal adapter bracket to mount it on top of a servo so that it can scan a wider area.

Screw it down, wire it up, and measure some distances.

one of those! Hmmm, Sure would look nice on the front of a Parallax Stingray.

It would then need others to keep it company. Sensors do get lonely by themselves.

That plastic sure is pretty... But, will you be using Oak or Maple when they go into production?

    Ah Ken....

I see it now! The IR detectects the heat signature to ensure its a person, and when the ultrasonics detect you are closing in the lidd opens ;)

Yup. Unless there's a lifetime warranty on the acrylic.

Q: What is the MTBF of tall thin acrylic attached by two tiny screws?
    A: One hit.

I'd redesign it to be be much lower height with a rear gusset to strengthen it for impact resistance.

That's what I would do with one of those.

My wife took one look at the Ping-only bracket and said it was an owl. I see that theme has been enhanced.
