Hello Everybody I was wondering if the 6.3v 1000uF Capacitor that parallax sells could be used to replace one of the 10v 1000uF Capacitors that's on the Board of Education?
Yes. Both such capacitors are used to filter the output of a 5V voltage regulator and the 6.3V rating is high enough for use at 5V. The major issue is size / lead placement ... If it fits, you can use it.
True Leon. On the other hand, a 6.3V part will have some margin. It won't magically blow up if you apply 6.93V (+10%). It may have a shortened working life though (spec'd at 3000h with Panasonic SMT 6.3V electrolytics)
