Can someone identify this LED dot matrix?

Trying to re-purpose a gift I was given (Spykee Vox) for use with the Propeller. The display is it's head and it looks like it's a serial interface but I can't tell for sure. Of course the generic epoxy blob doesn't help matters.

Any help is greatly appreciated.
