With the recent release of the QuickTerminal board, Nick and I have currently created 5 add-on boards for the Propeller Quickstart. We've decided that we'd like to further the efforts of getting the new Quickstarts into folks' hands by offering a free QuickProto module with every Quickstart ordered from Gadget Gangster.

QuickProto provides connections to the video/audio resources of the Propeller, additionally offering three methods of powering the combination (2.1mm barrel, screw terminals, and jumped /USB_PWR_EN —USB power enable) , along with a prototyping area.

Most of you here already have a fine collection of Propeller boards and probably don't need another, however, we think this combination is perfect for anyone who has considered trying out the Propeller. We hope this is the catalyst which will encourage more new Propeller heads to join our ranks. This duo immediately provides access to the Propeller's "wow factors", along with the existing Quickstart features making it a winner. Help us get the word out to folks who have "considered" the Propeller, but haven't had the impulse to purchase yet.

Thanks for this piece of work. I appreciate these new version and will be testing soon.

I have a wish as well: Has it been considered to design an add on breadbaord with teh wiznet SPI ethernet controller on it? I do quit a few projects that require ethernet as standard interface. Bets this interface should be present on the Quickstart. Room enough. But ethernet via an add on would be good as well.

    Thanks

I haven't been told this was a secret project, so I'll spill it..

There IS a Quickstart module in the works with the Wiznet Ethernet controller included in the design. This is a joint Parallax/Gadget Gangster project that is about half-way through preparation phase. I don't have a release date, but definitely in the works. Look for it to be released on the Parallax site when it is ready.

Hopefully, I haven't gotten myself in trouble for spilling the beans.. ;)

I have at least a half dozen QuickStart boards, but this offer is too good to pass up.

Those QuickProto boards look really useful.

I don't see any limit on the GG website. Is there a limit to how many of these we can purchase? (Not that I plan to get more than two myself.)

@mindrobots - Ha! No magic beans, but we are working on a wired ethernet QuickStart module using the W5200. Once that's finished up, we'll work on a board for the WizFi. As it gets farther along, I'll have to start a proper thread for it on the forums.

@Nick - I can always drive over and torment Jeff if you need me to - I'm not that far away!! I don't have many useful technical skills but I can be annoying!

    Hello Jeff,

I just picked up a couple of these. Thanks for the quick shipping!! I have the perfect project in mind for this board and the Quick Proto.

There is one suggestion that I wanted to make about the QuickProto board, One the product page for it I couldn't find listed anywhere that showed which I/O pins were used by the Audio and Video connectors. Since there are several different standards for where the pins could be those should be listed on the specs for the board and note which pins are already spoken for. That is something that you may want to add to pages for other boards as well. I know I can find it by downloading the example code and going through it but it would be more convenient if that was just posted on the page.

    @Robert,

Thanks for the heads up! I'll get that I/O information onto the product page over the weekend.

We work so closely with these products from conception to projects that we sometimes take it for granted that the rest of the world doesn't find things like the I/O configuration obvious! Duh!

I couldn't agree more! We're actively hunting the correct sized spacers for these.
