New measurements

http://phys.org/news/2012-04-dark-theories-mysterious-lack-sun.html

suggest only 70 g dark matter in a volume the size of the Earth, much less that
originally supposed (1 kg). It is just good to know.

Dark matter was "invented" to keep fashioned theories about space and time alive.
Later dark energy was "introduced" to cure more incompetency with experimental
facts. Nothing is perfect, why any theory should be?

Will be interesting to see how this will affect the theory of the increasing acceleration of the expansion of the universe. Theoretical physics is a set of dominoes (and that ain't pizza); once one theory has to be re-examined, hundreds must follow.

Shouldn't it be called 'fluffy dark matter' or 'marshmallow matter' or may 'nuthin matter'.

I agree the galactic rotation evidence that lead to the theory of dark matter has an ad hoc feel. But gravitational lensing events caused by the gravity of something unseen is another line of evidence for it. So if the stuff exists it's just weird and getting weirder all the time.

It's dark because it is unknown: a place holder for our temporary ignorance.

Think of it as a hole where you throw your money until someone figures out what's really happening.
Hope they figure it out fast :)

or maybe 'doesn't matter' when they find the mistake!
