P8X32A Quickstart Issue

Hello All,

I have just plugged in a P8X32A into my mac laptop and the green light is showing steadily. There was a flicker of red and blue beside the USB connection when first connected.

I have installed BST and tried to find propeller but it cannot find it.

I have also noticed in the demo video the person presenting the video seems to touch the bottom of the board and the blue LED's come on. Mine does not do this. Although if I touch the top and bottom edges of the circuit board they do..randomly! =(

Any ideas? Is my board faulty?

Thank you!

Green light is power light, so it should be on...

Red and Blue leds show USB communications, it's normal for them to flicker...

The row of blue lights may flicker randomly, depending on what software is loaded. I thought the default software made a light when you pushed on one of the gold buttons, but I'm not 100% sure they ship with that software.

So, everything seems normal, except not being found.

I would make sure you have the FTDI driver installed right... I'm not sure how to do that on a Mac, but if you search this forum, you might find instructions...

    Hi Rayman,

Thank your for the reply. Yes, newbie error..

I have installed the VCP drivers and it it now detects it.

Thats good to know about the buttons, I guess thats why no blue LED action yet.

The LEDs are driven by a high impedance driver circuit that will trigger with the small electrical disturbances from your fingers if you touch the header.

The Quickstart is not shipped with the button test program, you have to download that and install it to demo the touch button pads.
