I'm really pleased that there are so many excited looking kids.
I'm equally pleased to see so many parents involved with their kids. To me it suggests that the interest might be sustained beyond just EXPO weekend.
I'm curious, though: how did Parallax attract so many visitors, most of whom I would guess are not veteran customers, forum lurkers, or Nuts & Volts readers? The advertising must have expanded well beyond the usual channels for such a nice turnout.
I enjoyed seeing these pictures, as well. I wish it wasn't so far away. I may have to schedule time to get there next year - is this planned as a yearly event?
I wonder if someone could post a list of the various sponsors and other contributors that were at the EXPO...

Every Parallaxian (including the ladies of Marketing), worked really hard for several months to get the word out about the Expo. It was very grass roots as we found that television and radio stations are difficult to infiltrate. We also worked many online channels, Twitter, Facebook, community calendars, etc. We met a few people who saw a 30 second spot on the news in LA and just decided to drive up for the day. And some travelled even further. We are very happy with the turnout.
You did a very nice job of photographing the event. Well done!
So when should we expect a written description for each photo?
Just kidding
Thank you.
Actually, I would really appreciate some help captioning the photos. If anyone is willing to help out PM me and I will grant you access to the captioning.
BTW Rich, it was real pleasure meeting you and your family. You're a real powerhouse in the forums and I liked you right away when I met you. Your mecanum robot and S2 demos (name writing and Marauder) absolutely stole the show as far as I'm concerned, and your Quadrotor video was amazing. I enjoyed the videos of high school robotics teams you were showing at Staybridge. You're quite a valuable resource on many fronts, and a heckuva nice guy. Hope to see you again.
BTW, I left the Expo with my very own ELEV-8, so I may be needing some tips on multiple aspects of that...!
Will the hum of rotor blades be able to drown out the clickity-clack of of the relays operating the flamethrower it will obviously have added to it????
EDIT: I didn't need to put @erco at the front of this message, did I?
Multiple redundant relays, some vacuum tubes, a vintage aneroid barometer bellows, and several glass mercury switches will be required for my BS2-IC IMU. Might need a BS1 coprocessor to offload some processing tasks. Hmmm... serial or USB? Decisions, decisions.

Thanks for the kind words. Hope to see you again next year. It will be really good to have more competitors in the UAV competition.
@MRM in NC: Doggiedoc is in SC and was challenged to create a Carolina event. Will he step up?
I would love to see that happen.
Re: Quadcopter. I have wanted one ever since I saw the first video. ERCO, do you have RC flying experience? I have very little and that is the only thing holding me back from pulling the $600 trigger...

Only 700+ pictures!

Welcome to the Grey Side, We are not so dark yet.
Jim
And of course I already had two S2's (plastic & prop-based)!
Hey - it's even on the shirts sold at the Expo: "...I will modify it." :thumb:
The challenge stands.

Would you mind if I place this link in my facebook?
Not at all.
