I found this book to be something I should have had years ago :) Tons of projects in here and great explaination of electronic components.

That would be from Matt, who works for Parallax now. Maybe his second book is still available:

I ehm.. he found that one for even less but the shipping is taking forevar!

Kind of makes me wonder why it's not in the Books section of the Parallax store. I guess the 'kickstarts' have taken over?

Wait a minute, I know I saw a thread recently where Matt stated that he didn't write code. So how did he write this book?

    :)

I believe Matt wrote these book before he joined Parallax, so it think it was a private venture. He was selling his leftover book out of his garage. Maybe he will chime in to say if he has any left. I took advantage of the offer in the post I mentioned, and he even signed them for me!

Oh okay, that makes sense. At first I started flipping through this and I saw just about every answer to every BS2 problem I had back before I joined the forums here.

It reminds me a lot of Forrest Mims books.

    I saw that too!

I'm guessing he meant "I don't write code when I'm super busy getting ready for an Expo."

P.S. If I could get Matt's signature in those books, my Boe Bot would wet himself.

How long before Matt chimes in here? Is he silently basking in the glow...?

Maybe the wife recycled them to make room in the garage for their new project. I think it was a plywood Corvair.

There's 10 used at $18 and probably in mint condition because the people that use them are like that (seemingly).

Dang, I would like a copy of those books (Microcontroller 1 & 2), too. I might even want to look at the Inkjet app book just to see what's in there besides using an Inkjet for printing...

However did I miss this thread? Oh yeah, Expo got in the way.

Yes, several hundred sets are left from the final print run.

Yes, my sons will be selling them at Expo.

Yes, they'll be signed if you'd like (although I've been told the value drops drastically if signed ;).

Price for all three books at Expo will be $20 (including MAC #1, MAC #2, and Inkjet Apps - (which is pretty much worthless now if you ask me ;-).
might even want to look at the Inkjet app book just to see what's in there
Actually there are a few, I think cool circuits in there as well...I guess.

For $25, you'd get a Commemorative First Annual Expo Mug as well. For those of you that can't make it to Expo, I can ship for an extra 5 bucks.

The Mug is a limited run of only 200 copies.

Proceeds go to my boys' College Fund :-) My 11 year old (Tracy), wants to be an inventor and wants to work at Parallax in the worst way...he's sharp...my job may be in jeopardy?!

You all are so kind - you made my day!

Both volumes of the Cookbook are EXCELLENT resources, I reference them for nearly every project I build.

For anyone interested, here are the details of the book that got me into the BS2/Robotics:

Name: Robot Builder's Bonanza (3rd Edition)
    Authors: Gordon McComb, Myke Predko
    ISBN: 0-07-146893-5

It's a great book that takes you from A-Z on robotics. From electronics, to programming, to the principles of robotics.

I've no idea where to get it and how, because my father bought it for me - and I'm forever indebted to him for doing so...

Agreed, John, great book. The 4th edition just came out about a year ago, and author Gordon McComb is an active member of this forum!

Any possibility of obtaining copies of these in electronic form? (pdf maybe) paper copies won't do me any good, nobody here can read wiring diagrams (yet) I'm still working on that though. :)
