Strange Lights on Quick Start Board

I recently ordered and received a Quick Start (QS) board. I noticed that the built in LED's may light uncommanded if I touched the terminals on the back of the board. To be safe I put a strip of electrical tape on the back to protect the exposed circuit contacts. Strangely, the LED's still light if I run my finger across the electrical tape protecting the terminal holes. Is this typical? What is the cause?

The LEDs on the QuickStart are like logic probes on the I/O pins, they reflect the state of the I/O pin, but the I/O pin itself is not directly driving the LED. Because of this, the LEDs may blink on and off randomly when the I/O lines are not driven. For information about the LEDs on the QuickStart, go to http://www.parallaxsemiconductor.com/products/quickstart, click on the "Specifications" tab half way down the page, then scroll down to where it says "LEDs".

I've tried to list some of the QuickStart projects I've done and that fellow forum members have done here.
The QuickStart servo tester is one of my favorites right now. Oh, and you've got to check out a QuickStart board controlling 32 servos.
