Working on a VGA board for Quickstart (how much can one cram into 2"x3")

Working on a new board kit for Quickstart:

I think this is my personal record for how much I can cram into a single 2"x3" board.

Features:
Audio R/L
VGA
PS2
Optional iR
Optional SD adapter
Wii

Anything anyone wants before this goes to production? (I think I have a half an inch left) ;)

    The double stacked PS2/mouse connecter takes up little extra space but gives you both keyboard and mouse. Thats what I usually use, it does require 4 more resistors.

    Looks great to me. Guess you're going to try VGA with 3.3V instead of 5V. Hope that works, I want to do it too...
    Or, maybe you're going to use Vin... I guess that's 4.something volts...

    OBC: Have you thought about adding an alternative for TV in place of VGA (either/or)? If you use an av4 connector (I can supply them if you want) you can add TV to the stereo connector. Alternately, you could add another connector for TV. Just a thought.

    Rayman: AFAIK I do not believe VGA requires 5V or 3V3.

    All of the prop boards out there drive VGA direct from the prop pins, so 5v isn't required.

    I second the notion of adding an RCA jack, might as well hit all the points.

    Sorry, my point is add a double stacked PS2 connector so you can have both keyboard and mouse. It takes up little extra room.

    Actually, (and I need to double check myself now.) The VGA and keyboard are set to run off Vin which should be 5v from a connected adapter. That being said, my tests this weekend with 3v keyboards were favorable. IIRC, the 5v on the VGA line is to keep the monitor from going into standby, so a voltage should be there.

    OBC: Suggest you put a dual footprint on the PS2 connector to take a USB female socket instead. Then if you have a USB keyboard that can also do PS2 mode, you dont require an adapter.

    Hi Oldbitcollector .

    One of standards use spare pins as second PS2 port and with addition of split cable can use both ports on single PS2 connector.

    Nice work OBC! I am thinking that with all of the Quickstart add on boards coming out, that someone should make a multi-prop board with multiple Quickstart format connectors. Would be like a Quickstart backplane.

    ps. shouldn't it be MMXII?

    50 of Cluso's 4 pole, 3.5mm AV connectors are already on their way to you (posted last week).

    These are really useful - through hole, cheap, solid, very compact, and take advantage of the 4 pole to 3xRCA cables widely available from ebay and elsewhere. I'll post some photos of them in use and perhaps Cluso can too

    Here is one of my IOBlades (VGA+Stereo+Keyboard) You will note the Stereo socket is actually an AVG4 socket which has a pin available to include Video (TV). Cables to 3 RCA are cheap on eBay. This connector is t/hole and small.

    As far as I know, the 5 Volts on the VGA pin 9 is there so that the EEPROM in the monitor can be read by the PC, along with pins 12 & 15, even if the monitor is powered off. This is not used by the Prop drivers (yet). So 3.3 Volts or 5 Volts shouldn't make any difference.

    I have seen some wiring schemes that advocate that all of the central pins are grounded, along with pin 5, this would short out the supply. A lot of VGA leads do not have a pin in them, on Pin 9, probably out of safety.
