Pool playing robot?!?

A buddy and I were playing a few games of pool the other night..... (actually he was playing and I watched him beat me some'tin terrible) I wondered if I could make a pool playing robot. The short answer is probably, yes; But after a quick Google search, I don't think I want to tackle this one just any time soon :)

I was thinking more along the lines of a track mounted to the table, but that wouldn't be very realistic I guess. It looks like a lot of work and money!

    I wanted to do something like this several years ago when I was playing on a BPA team. A wife of one of the guys that I played with had MD, and what I envisioned for her to play would be something about the size of a BOE bot that was placed on the table during her turn. The idea is that she essentially would drive the BOT equipped with video feedback, etc. and could line up her shots. The BOT would be equipped with a parallelogram style ram rod, using a portion of a real cue stick. ... I never got around to putting anything together, although I wish I had.
