Help with enabling Parallax RFID Reader

Hello,

I am using an Arduino Uno with the parallax RFID reader 28140. After having connected the 4 pins, i can't get the led to go red. i have checked connections and get +5v at Vcc pin, and made a small bit of code for the enable pin to alternate between high and low, and measure a voltage of +5/0 on the Enable pin, the ground is connected as well.
Why doesn't the led turn red when the enable pin is low?

First try connecting the /enable pin directly to ground (not through the Arduino). The LED should change from green to red when you do so. In other words, you have +5 connected to the Vcc pin, ground connected to the Vss pin, and the /enable pin connected to ground as well. The LED should show red.

You'll need to call Parallax Tech Support on Monday. This sounds like something that needs some real-time help, not a forum. At this point, you're only using the RFID reader and a 5V regulated power supply. No Arduino is involved (except maybe to provide the 5V).
