Where is Brad's BST?

For some reason I cannot find BST in the OBEX. Has it not been placed there?

Mine copy crashed and I could not get out of it. So I had to trash all the bst fiiles. Now I'm stuck.

Even though I have Windows XP vis Parallels, this morning I tried to Resume, but after it displayed 98& loaced it took over 1 hr 30 min to get to where it was 'my turn' to do something. I had to do a Power off to get out of it. Parallels v7 doesn't work right for some reason. HD just grinds on and on.

    Harley,

You should be able to find everything here: http://www.fnarfbargle.com/bst.html

Mindrobots, JonnyMac, for some reason none of those would unzip on my iMac. Yes, I chose the 'osx' versions. They would download, but after unziipping, only one icon shows and it will not open!

    Harley,

I can try installing it again on my Mac-mini, maybe later tonight. I don't recall having any problems with the install under Snow Leopard but don;t remember if I installed it under Lion.

    Mindrobots,

My system is OS 10.6.7 if that helps. It might have been around a year ago when I first installed BST. It worked find, to my knowledge; I didn't use it much as I needed ViewPort and PASD to work on timing and debug PASM.

Really strange, I was trying to get the speech files working from learn.com and one compile bombed and all I could get was the 'spinning wheel' whenever mousing over BST GUI. Couldn't even Exit BST.

I had a challenge with the install on an older Mac and needed to use a different BST version. You should be able to upgrade to OS 10.6.8 by going to the black apple and Software Update.

    Humanoido,

After doing a software update I realized what your comment of "..by going to the black apple.." was about. I did a Google, but that didn't turn up anything about a 'black apple' and updates. (Hits forehead while saying "Could of had a V8!")

So now on to trying to get BST working again. Thanks for the hint.

Yahoo! Everyone, thanks for the hints.

After downloading the latest iMac OSX, it is now OS 10.6.8, and what do you know. I was able to download mindrobots suggested web page for BST. Now that is some progress.

OUCH!! Same thing with another BST. It crashed, and with the spinning wheel, no way to quit BST..

Found this time it didn't block getting back to Chrome and all those web pages. But, for some reason BST bst-0.19.3.osx.zip doesn't run with my iMac.

I also tried to install an earlier version, but it didn't unzip with a BST app.

Man, BST doesn't work right, Parallels/Windows XP is horribly slow. Looking forward for Parallax's Prop 2 IDE non-Windows version. Wish it worked with Prop 1 files.

But it's not a propeller object! Besides Brad might not want it under MIT licence?

Sounds more like you have a problem with your installed OS. I've been running bst.app since Mac OS X 10.5 and continue to run it all the way to 10.7.3. If you are no longer able to get the bst-0.19.3.osx.zip file to unzip to bst.app, you may want to do that in the Terminal, using "unzip bst-0.19.3.osx.zip". If there are errors in decompressing the .zip file, you'll see them.

When an app "hangs" on Mac OS X, you should be able to "force quit" the app by typing the following keys, all together: Command-Option-esc (that's the Command or propeller key, the Option or alt key and the escape key all at the same time). You should get a dialog that allows force-quiting any offending app...

BTW: The bst.app is a multi-architecture application that can run on PowerPC and Intel based Macs.

Something strange now happens. I can download BST, save to Desktop or folder, but when I click on the unzipped file, it creates 'bst' file with the 'bird' but clicking on it, it appears to start opening but than doesn't. For some reason I cannot launch BST any longer.

Everything else seems to be working with this later OS 10.6.8. Anyone have a clue what's going on?

    He's back. with 'bst' problem(s).

I thought all was going well today. Launched bst, Opened to my PropBOE Speech-synthesis folder, loaded all seven of the speech files, found the Prop, compiled OK, but when did Compile and load to RAM, bst BOMBed!. This is on an iMac, so ended up with the mouse 'pinwheel' spinning, whenever over the IDE window or bst Menu items. Clicking on a blank desktop gives Finder. But no way to Exit or remove bst. Cannot delete bst icon; otherwise get "App in use" message,

How does one stop bst? It is hung up. If I do the Powerdown/Restart with the power switch, then that will let me start anew. But that is a bummer to lose any Chrome Tab apps in use.

I suppose bst is a bit of a way from being well debugged. Else, why would my attempting to use it BOMB?

I use BST on my MacBook Pro under MacOSX 10.7.3 all the time and it works fine. If, on your system, it hangs up, you click somewhere on the desktop to get the Finder, choose Force Quit from the Apple menu, and you can force BST to quit that way. I haven't had to restart my Mac other than when installing a system update or system-related application. My experience with BST is that it's very reliable and easy to install and use. You might try reinstalling the FTDI USB to serial driver from a freshly downloaded copy. Make sure you've got all the latest MacOS updates installed, have run Repair from the Disk Utility, etc.

    Thank you Mike.

I just tried all the selections from Find Propeller to Compile and download to EEPROM. It is on the download to RAM and EEPROM that crashes BST.

    Will try your suggestions.
