What happend to VTI SPC1000 pressure sensor?

I been searcing the forums trying to find out why the VTI SPC1000 pressure sensor was taken away from the store. Was there a problem with the sensor itself, the accuracy not good enough or just too pricy?

I believe the sensor was discontinued by the manufacturer, VTI technologies, something having to do with the specialized manufacturing line and product focus. Now the company seems completely focused on motion and position sensors.

Discontinued by the Finnish company VTI, quite some time ago. We have a great replacement http://www.parallax.com/Store/Sensors/AccelerationTilt/tabid/172/ProductID/780/List/0/Default.aspx?SortField=ProductName,ProductName which customers have flown in high-altitude balloons beyond 100,000 feet with great results.

OK, I bought the sensor some time ago but didn't start testing it before now. I was looking for discussions and peoples' experience with the sensor here but found very few posts. So the Finnish gave up the whole thing, hm. The Finnish [peolpe] are not known for being the first ones to give up, just read their history.

There is code for using this in the OBEX. I was using one in my weather station but recently went with this http://www.ladyada.net/learn/sensors/bmp085.html I think there may be code in the OBEX for this also.
