Given that Semiconductor is a non-mark modifier, simply having the Trademark on Parallax is sufficient.
Since "parallax" is a common English word, it almost certainly cannot be registered stand-alone. Combining it with another word is what uniquely identifies it as a trademark.

Unless you are Facebook. It seems that they are trying to claim ownership of the word "book". I think that is a classic example of how the system is abused.
Thanks everyone, it was a long process and we're happy to now have the trademark. The trademark is on "Parallax Semiconductor." We had to disclaim the word "semiconductor" because it's a common word.

It's nice to see that Parallax Semiconductor made that big step in it's future and for sharing with us.

If it's not privileged information, how much did that effort cost?
I probably need to do the same at some point.
Never mind...found the USPTO site and reviewed the fees. Definetely something for which to save my pennies.
I own the trademark "EFormance" within the field I did/do business. This encompasses EFormance Engineering too.
